The Kinsmen Club of the Yukon
As of August 31 2005, The Kinsmen Club of
the Yukon no longer exists.
After a few key members moved away,
the remainder of the club decided to take a break.
My Fellow Kin...
We have reached the point in our history of the Kinsmen
Club of the Yukon where it is obvious that the continuation of this service club
here in the territory is not going to happen.
In discussions with several members of the club, it has
been decided that we,(the Kinsmen Club of the Yukon), dissolve effective August
31, 2005.
On behalf of myself, and those charter members of this
club, I congratulate you all on a good run...it was ten years, almost to the
day, Sept 16th, 1995 when we began and since then much, much good has
been accomplished, including of course many worthwhile fundraisers, including
continued support of Freedom Trails therapeutic riding centre, the building of
the 2 Mile Hill park, The Christmas light display at the RCMP Building, and of
course the hosting of the Kinsmen national Kinvention in 2000. We have also been
able to help individuals in need when funding was available. And last but
certainly not least is the Share The Spirit Campaign. This will continue,
thankfully under the direction of the Kinette Club of Whitehorse.
As the Charter President let me just say, Thank you all
from the bottom of my heart. It's ten years I will never forget!
Your in and always in true Kin
Rocho
We would like to thank our many sponsors over the years, our club
members, and the family of Kin from all across Canada who gave us much support,
fellowship and fond memories. Without you, we could not have “served the community’s
greatest needs”. We hope to stay in touch and maybe reform the club one day.
Yours
in Kin, Jason McDiarmid
